Annual Literary Contests Accepting Submissions Now!

Submit now to our contests in Fiction, Poetry or Nonfiction!

Deadline for current year’s contest: December 31.Fee: $15/story (no longer than 20 pages) or 3-5 poems, payable to cream city review. The entrant’s fee includes the issue in which prize winners are announced.Prize: $1,000.00 plus publication.Address your submission to fiction contest, poetry contest, or nonfiction contest and send your entry to:

Prize submissions must be typed, double-spaced (poetry may be single-spaced), and include the author’s name and address. There is no need to include an SASE, as winners will be announced on this site before publication of the Spring issue. All entrants receive a copy of the issue containing the winners. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as long as cream city review is notified in the event the manuscript is accepted elsewhere. The reading fee, however, is non-refundable.

Submit beginning August 1: Theme “Constraints”

We begin reading general submissions again beginning August 1st for our new theme, CONSTRAINTS.

You can apply the idea of constraints to the content or the form of your work. Constrain your characters. Constrain yourself. Write a story about being limited by your body, by finances, by unbreachable borders. Or write a poem in which every line MUST begin with “I can not…” Tie your hands together as you write. Limit by number of words or number of syllables. There are no constraints on how to interpret “constraints…”
